Hello! My name is Kara Leonardia. I am an artist, teacher, and an aspiring creative entrepreneur based in Bacolod City, Philippines.
I graduated with a degree in Multimedia Arts, a digital arts focused course, but found more satisfaction creating things by hand through painting. I believe that art has the power to heal pains that we cannot express as well as help us survive the stresses of day to day life. Art, even as a hobby, challenges us to see things in a different light and express our true selves.
As an artist, my work focuses on florals and fashion illustrations usually painted with watercolor or other water based mediums. I am fascinated by silhouettes and shapes as well as textures and patterns. I also love to develop and teach workshops as well as create practical products like notebooks.
After nearly three years of teaching under the animation department of the College of Saint Benilde, I decided let go of my comfort zone to pursue my art journey back in my hometown of Bacolod. I firmly believe it’s possible to have a career in arts so I hope to succeed in order to show others how to also be creators for a living.
Through my blog, I want to share my progress, inspirations, and musings of what it means to be an artist with the hope it helps someone along the way.
